This group is for adult men and women who have experienced childhood abuse. Abuse can be: physical, sexual, emotional, psychological, verbal and/or spiritual.
Planned Topics Include:
Boundary setting, managing triggers, healthy self-care, coping with grief and trauma, overcoming the lies of shame, confronting a culture of victim-blaming, assertive communication, problem-solving, healthy support systems, freedom from “the rescue triangle,” what forgiveness is and isn’t.
This is a support group (education and peer support); it is not psychotherapy.
Group Facilitators:
Bob and Helga Edwards have Bachelors’ degrees in Religious Education and Social Development Studies, as well as their Master’s Degrees in Social Work. For 20 years, they worked as therapists and public speakers in community counselling, hospital, and church settings. Helga and Bob will draw from their professional training and from helpful biblical principles to address group topics.
